...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON FOR THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
* WHERE...The Big Island.
* WHEN...Through this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams due to excessive rain over saturated ground. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Unstable tropical moisture left from the departing kona low and troughing aloft will bring possible heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms through the afternoon hours. A large band of thunderstorms continues to approach the Big Island from the west-southwest direction, which may produce another round of heavy rainfall later today.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 957 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over Kona and Kohala areas. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Waikoloa Village, Kapaau, Puuanahulu, Puako, Kalaoa, Holualoa, Kawaihae, Honalo, Kamuela, Kahaluu-Keauhou, Kohala Ranch, Kainaliu, Kealakekua, Honaunau, Waimanu Valley, Waipio Valley, Pololu Valley and Kukuihaele.
