Very strong wind event.
What: Southeast winds gusting to 120 km/h followed by southwest winds gusting to 120 km/h.
When: Late Tuesday morning to Tuesday evening.
Where: North Vancouver Island, especially exposed coastal sections and Nimpkish Lake.
Additional information: Southeast winds will sharply rise to 70 km/h gusting to 90, and 90 km/h gusting to 120 km/h over exposed coastal sections, beginning late Tuesday morning as a deep low pressure system passes over northern Vancouver Island. As the low makes landfall on the mainland coast, winds will veer southwest 70 km/h gusting to 90, and 90 km/h gusting to 120 over exposed coastal sections, early Tuesday evening.
Nimpkish Lake will also see strong southwesterly winds gusting to 100 km/h late Tuesday afternoon and early Tuesday evening.
Winds will subside late Tuesday evening as the low moves inland.
