Orange warning - severe thunderstorm - in effect At 9:57 p.m. MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, loonie to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain. The thunderstorms are from Legal to Edmonton. They are moving to the east at 45 km/h. ### Significant damage to buildings and/or trees is likely. Heavy rain will likely cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure. Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.

Yellow warning - air quality - in effect Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. Air quality and visibility due to wildfire smoke can change rapidly over short distances and from hour to hour. ### As smoke levels increase, health risks increase. Limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events. You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance. People more likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.
