* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 9 to 12 feet. Dangerous rip currents. Possible coastal inundation along northern shorelines during high tide.
* WHERE...For the High Surf Advisory, north facing reefs of the Marianas. For the High Risk of Rip Currents, north and east facing reefs. For the Coastal Flood Watch, northern shorelines.
* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory and High Rip Current Risk, until 4 PM ChST Friday. For the Coastal Flood Watch, until 4 PM ChST this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...A few roads may be closed. Low lying property may be inundated. Some shoreline erosion may occur. Breaking waves can sweep people off jetties and docks, and into dangerous seas. Life- threatening swimming conditions and significant beach erosion can be expected. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated long-period north to northeast swell, produced by a distant mid-latitude system well east of Japan and a prior strong Kona Low north of Hawai'i, will continue to produce hazardous surf along north facing reefs, and a high risk of rip currents along north and east facing reefs through the latter half of the week. Coastal inundation along northern shorelines of 1 to 2 feet is possible through this afternoon during times of high tide.
