    * WHAT...High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions expected. Piers may be heavily swamped by waves. * WHERE...Mason, Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan and Van Buren counties. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...All beaches will have strong currents and many will have waves 3 to 6 feet. Beaches on the southside of south piers will be especially hazardous.

    • Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions and do not venture out on piers. Please check with your local authorities on potential beach closures.

    Scattered thunderstorms are developing across southwest lower Michigan this afternoon. Several storms will be capable of small hail and winds in excess of 40 mph over the next few hours into the evening. A few storms may become severe with winds to 60 mph and hail to 1 inch in diamater. Remain aware of weather conditions and seek shelter as storms approach.

    ESFGRR Several rounds of showers and storms are expected through late Wednesday evening. The heaviest rain is expected to fall early Wednesday evening, with widespread rain totals between 1 and 2 inches possibly, especially along I-94. Isolated 3 inch rain totals are possible. Depending on exactly when and where this rain falls, localized flooding is possible, especially in the urban areas around Kalamazoo. Drivers should be prepared for travel impacts during the evening commute on Wednesday, especially along the I-94 corridor between Kalamazoo and Jackson.
