Waters from Suwannee River to Apalachicola FL from 20 to 60 NM... * Until 500 AM EDT/400 AM CDT/. * At 322 AM EDT/222 AM CDT/, a strong thunderstorm was located 10 nm southeast of Port St. Joe, moving southeast at 20 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect wind gusts in excess of 34 knots...suddenly higher waves...frequent lightning...and heavy downpours. Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. * Locations impacted include... O Tower, Port St. Joe, S Tower, V Tower, Empire Mica Wreck, Apalachicola, C Tower, Cape San Blas, St George Island, and Mexico Beach.

    * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents expected. * WHERE...Bay and Gulf County Beaches. * WHEN...From 3 PM EDT /2 PM CDT/ this afternoon through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...West winds will increase this afternoon, raising the rip current risk along the west- and southwest- facing beaches of Bay and Gulf Counties.

    • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
