Snow squalls resulting in hazardous travel conditions tonight into Tuesday. What: Lake effect snow squalls. Local snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 cm. The highest accumulations are expected for locations east of Lake Huron. Near zero visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow. When: This evening through Tuesday afternoon. Additional information: Temperatures are falling sharply in the wake of a cold front today. Snow squalls off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay will be accompanied by westerly to northwesterly winds gusting 70 to 90 km/h. Hazardous travel conditions including near zero visibilities as a result of heavy snow and extensive blowing snow will continue through Tuesday morning. Conditions are expected to slowly improve Tuesday afternoon. ### Travel may be extremely hazardous. Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Road closures are possible. Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibility will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate. What: Snow squalls coming in off Georgian Bay. Local snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm. Near zero visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow. Wind gusts to 60 or 70 km/h. When: Starting near midnight then ending early Tuesday evening Additional Information: Snow squalls off Georgian Bay will be accompanied by westerly to northwesterly winds gusting near 70 km/h. Hazardous travel conditions including near zero visibilities as a result of heavy snow and blowing snow are expected. Latest computer models suggest the strongest snow squall will come in off Georgian Bay between Meaford and Wasaga Beach and may extend inland as far as Barrie. Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour are possible. If this snow squall can lock in for a few hours, local snowfall amounts may exceed 30 centimetres. Conditions are expected to slowly improve beginning late Tuesday afternoon. ### Travel will likely be hazardous. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
