At 834 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain continued to impact the Puna and Kau Districts along the southeast slopes of the Big Island. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Additionally, Emergency Management reported that Highway 11 was closed at Kawa flats due to flooding. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
