    Under present weather conditions, At 3:00 PM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 595 km East of Infanta, Quezon (14.3°N, 127.2°E). The 12-hour rainfall forecast is light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. WATERCOURSES LIKELY TO BE AFFECTED : + **Batangas** - Rivers and its tributaries particularly Lian, Banabang-Molino, Pansipit, Kapumpong, Rosario-Lobo and Upper Bolbok (Lawaya). + **Laguna** - Rivers and its tributaries particularly Pagsanjan, Pila-Sta. Cruz, San Juan and San Cristobal. + **Quezon** - Rivers and its tributaries particularly Upper Umiray, Lower Bolbok (Lawaya), Malaking-Ilog, Iyam, Macalelon, Catanauan, Silongin Lagda, Pagsanjan, Yabahaan, Bigol, Guinhalinan, Vinas, Calauag, Pandanan, Sta.     THE LOW PRESSURE AREA EAST OF INFANTA, QUEZON DEVELOPED INTO TROPICAL DEPRESSION LUIS. Location of eye/center : The center of Tropical Depression LUIS was estimated based on all available data at at 360 km East of Daet, Camarines Norte (14.5, 126.3). Strength : Maximum winds of 45 kph near the centerand gustiness of up to 55 kph. Forecast movement : Forecast to move Westward at 15 kph Forecast position : Aug 02, 2026 08:00 AM - 390 km East of Infanta, Quezon Aug 02, 2026 08:00 PM - 295 km East Southeast of Baler, Aurora Aug 03, 2026 08:00 AM - 210 km East of Baler, Aurora Aug 03, 2026 08:00 PM - 180 km East of Casiguran, Aurora Aug 04, 2026 08:00 AM - 245 km East of Casiguran, Aurora Aug 04, 2026 08:00 PM - 330 km East of Casiguran, Aurora Aug 05, 2026 08:00 PM - 525 km East of Echague, Isabela HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND AREAS Heavy Rainfall Outlook Refer to Weather Advisory No. 1 issued at 11:00 PM today for the heavy rainfall outlook due to TC LUIS. Severe Winds The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction. Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1. The Southwest Monsoon and the periphery of LUIS will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds): Tomorrow (02 August): Marinduque, Romblon, Caluya Islands, Siquijor, Southern Leyte, Camiguin, and Dinagat Islands. Monday (03 August): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands. HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook Up to moderate to rough seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 2.5 m: The eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental. Up to 2.0 m: The southern seaboard of Davao Oriental; the southeastern seaboard of Davao Occidental. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions. Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m. TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone. LUIS is forecast to decelerate while moving west northwestward until tomorrow before turning east northeastward for the remaining forecast period. On the forecast track, the center of LUIS will remain over the Philippine Sea. However, a westward shift of the forecast track will result to a landfall scenario or close approach to Northern or Central Luzon LUIS will likely remain as a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. By Monday (03 August), the tropical cyclone is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm while moving over the sea east of Central Luzon. As it begins to move generally northeastward, a weakening trend will likely begin and will be downgraded to remnant low by Wednesday (05 August).
