On Wednesday we expect high avalanche danger for region Ofoten. Avalanche problem is persistent weak layer (slab avalanches), wet snow (slab avalanches) and wet snow (loose snow avalanches).

Increased temperatures and rain is expected from tuesday evening until wednesday evening. This will increase the danger of slushflow, landslides and debris flows along rivers and streams, and in slopes where there is snowmelt. Risk of slushflows is especially high in areas with more than 25 cm snow. The snow may in some places be fully water-saturated. Slushflows are triggered even in relatively gentle slopes, where water accumulates. Slushflows follow terrain depressions and may develop into debris flows. The risk of landslides is largest in areas that are snow free.

Rain is expected, followed by heavy showers in some places. Heavy snowmelt is expected. Steep slopes, as well as streams and rivers with high discharge, are particularly exposed. Risk of slushflows is especially high in areas with less than 1 meter deep snow. The snow may in some places be fully water-saturated. Slushflows are triggered even in relatively gentle slopes, where water accumulates. Slushflows follow terrain depressions and may develop into debris flows. Debris flows may reach the valley bottom even if they are triggered high in the terrain.
