* WHAT...Hot temperatures as high as 74 to 82. * WHERE...Interior Kenai Peninsula, NW Kenai Peninsula, Skilak Lake, and Turnagain Pass. * WHEN...From 2 PM this afternoon to 9 PM AKDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Individuals not accustomed to these unusually hot temperatures for this region may experience heat related illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures across interior northern and western Kenai Peninsula will again climb well into the 70s for daytime highs Friday and Saturday. The warmest temperatures will be from Hope Cutoff to Moose Pass and west to Sterling. Afternoon sea breezes will keep temperatures along the coast in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 40s to lower 50s, allowing for a brief respite from the very warm temperatures.

Drink plenty of fluids and check up on elderly and vulnerable
relatives and neighbors.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances as vehicle interiors can reach extreme
temperatures in as little as 10 minutes.
Take extra precautions when working in the sun. Wear sunscreen and
lightweight, loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous
activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see
symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Close curtains during the daytime to reduce sun insolation into the
home and open windows at night to allow the home to cool off.
Utilize fans or community buildings with air conditioning.
