    The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Red Flag Warning for hot temperatures, gusty winds, and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 2 PM Saturday to 9PM MDT Sunday. * AFFECTED AREA...Eastern Glacier/Toole/Central/Eastern Pondera/Liberty, Hill and Blaine Counties, Lewis and Clark National Forest Rocky Mountain District-Rocky Mountain Front, Chouteau and Fergus Counties, Lincoln Ranger District of the Helena National Forest, Central and Eastern Lewis and Clark National Forest Areas and Helena and Townsend Ranger Districts of the Helena National Forest. * WINDS...West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Along the Rocky Mountain Front, west winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph and isolated cases of 75 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 8 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Between 100 and 110 degrees on Saturday. * COLD FRONT...A strong, dry cold front will arrive Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Containment of any ongoing or new fires may be very difficult. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

    * WHAT...West winds 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph possible. Isolated wind gusts up to 75 mph along the immediate eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountain Front. * WHERE...East Glacier Park Region Zone, and Northern High Plains. * WHEN...From 6 PM Saturday to noon MDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Recreationists should be aware of any trees that could fall while establishing camps or hiking. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most intense winds are likely to occur between 12 AM and 8 AM Sunday when mountain wave activity will be at its peak.

For the High Wind Warning, from 6 PM Saturday to noon MDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most intense winds are likely to occur between 12 AM and 8 AM Sunday when mountain wave activity will be at its peak.

    • People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. If you must spend time outdoors, wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
