This includes Farmington, Shiprock, Bloomfield, Aztec, Dulce, Chama, Cuba, Los Alamos, Taos, Espanola, Angel Fire, Red River, Eagle Nest, Santa Fe, Glorieta, Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Sandia Crest, Sedillo, Belen, Los Lunas, and Socorro. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional rounds of showers and storms are likely later this afternoon through the overnight hours. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour may occur with storms during the afternoon and early evening, with lighter rainfall overnight.     At 125 PM MDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Salt Burn Scar. Between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Fence Canyon, Snow Canyon, Bear Canyon and Turkey Spring Canyon as well as Highway 70 and the Rio Ruidoso through Ruidoso Downs. Impacts may also occur downstream of Ruidoso Downs along the Rio Ruidoso. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Salt Burn Scar. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Salt Burn Scar. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Ruidoso, Ruidoso Downs, Glencoe and Hollywood.

    • This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches in the Salt Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters, climb to safety. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
