* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of central New Mexico, including the following area, South Central Mountains. * WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams on and downstream of burn scars may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Higher moisture behind a backdoor front will result in a greater coverage of showers and thunderstorms across the Sacramento and Capitan Mountains midday Saturday. Storms will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall with rainfall rates in excess of 2 inches an hour resulting in a greater potential for flash flooding on and downstream of area burn scars. A brief lull in shower and thunderstorm activity is expected during the late afternoon and early evening hours before a second round of showers and thunderstorms moves in from the north during the mid and late evening hours. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
