This will result in a major risk for heat-related illnesses for much of the population, especially those without effective cooling. * WHERE...South Central Elko County. * WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat.

Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Gusty erraticoutflow winds from passing/collapsing thunderstorms can reach up to 40-50 mph. * HUMIDITY...15-20 percent * THUNDERSTORMS...Thunderstorms will be mostly dry. * HIGHEST THREAT...is located in fire zone NV425. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Dry lightning may create new fire starts and combine with strong outflow winds to produce rapid fire growth. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
