Rip Current Statement issued August 8 at 3:42PM ChST until August 13 at 4:00PM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU

    Alkaen: 08.08.2026, 15:42
    To: 09.08.2026, 05:45

    * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 9 to 11 feet and dangerous rip currents expected. * WHERE...Along west and north facing reefs. * WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong monsoon pattern continues to produce hazardous surf and a high risk of rip currents along west and north-facing reefs. As influence from Typhoon Dolphin on the monsoon pattern decreases, influence from Tropical Storm Chan-Hom and other disturbances will increase. This will keep surf elevated and above hazardous conditions for west and north facing reefs through much of the coming week, and surf hazards have been extended through Thursday afternoon. The High Surf Advisory and High Rip Current Risk may be extended again next week as the monsoon pattern, and associated west to northwest swells, continue.

    • Guam,Guam
