At 1054 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Markham to near Crete to near Bradley, moving east at 75 mph. THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS producing measured winds gusts of 90 to over 100 mph. HAZARD...100 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be destroyed. Expect considerable damage to homes and businesses. Expect extensive tree damage and power outages. These severe storms will be near... Hammond, Gary, Merrillville, East Chicago, Schererville, Lansing, Crown Point, Highland, Munster, and Cedar Lake around 1100 AM CDT. Hobart, Lake Village, Lake Station, and Winfield around 1105 AM CDT. Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include Lakes of the Four Seasons, Roselawn, New Chicago and Shelby.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION with tornado like wind
speeds expected. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are
especially susceptible to winds of this magnitude and may be
overturned. For your protection move to an interior room on the
lowest floor of a building. These storms have the potential to cause

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Lake IN County in northwestern Indiana... * WHEN...Until 200 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1103 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated a line of intense thunderstorms with rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour moving into the area. Localized flooding of roadways and poor drainage areas will occur shortly after the onset of rainfall. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
