In March, flooding continues, river runoff increases significantly, ice breaks up, and ice jams form in some places. Water levels continue to rise, flooding river floodplains and low-lying areas. In the coming days, larger areas will be inundated within river basins. In March 14 in Lielupe river from Stalgene to Kalnciems and Gauja from Sigulda to Carnikava ice movements ar ice jams are expected. Ice movements is expected in Daugava River and its tributaries. Water level will rapidly change due to ice movements. BE AWARE of the potentially flood-prone areas! The environment is already overly humid, water is accumulating in the fields and in the lower depressions, low-lying areas on the banks of water bodies are flooded.
