    Rip Current Statement issued March 18 at 4:06PM ChST until March 20 at 4:00PM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU

    Da: 18/03/2026, 16:06
    A: 19/03/2026, 07:00

    * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet and dangerous rip currents.

    * WHERE...North and east facing reefs of the Marianas.

    * WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Friday.

    * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

    * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated long-period north to northeast swell, produced by distant mid-latitude frontal systems, will continue to produce hazardous surf along north facing reefs, and a high risk of rip currents along north and east facing reefs through Friday afternoon. Swells look to gradually subside, however, there is still a potential for surf and rip risk to remain elevated over the weekend. Although the overall threat of coastal inundation has decreased, minor coastal inundation along northern shorelines still remains possible through Friday afternoon, especially during times of high tide.

    • Guam,Guam
