For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 115 for Tuesday afternoon. * WHERE...In the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend, Central and South Walton, Washington, Bay, Calhoun, Liberty, Franklin, and Gulf Counties. * WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ this evening. For the Extreme Heat Warning, from 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

    • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

    At 849 PM EDT/749 PM CDT/, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 11 miles northeast of Stonemill Creek to 15 miles southeast of Vernon to 11 miles southeast of De Funiak Springs. Movement was south at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Panama City, Lynn Haven, Panama City Beach, Callaway, Vernon, Bonifay, Marianna, Eastpoint, Apalachicola, Santa Rosa Beach, De Funiak Springs, Blountstown, Chipley, St George Island, Port St. Joe, Springfield, Mexico Beach, Hiland Park, Eglin Air Force Base, and Stonemill Creek.
