Major Heat Risk. * WHERE...Mostly rural portions of southwest Arizona and southeast California, including Joshua Tree National Park. * WHEN...Until 8 PM MST /8 PM PDT/ this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion to develop and, without intervention, can lead to heat stroke.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
