Credit Valley Conservation has issued a Flood Watch for the areas of the Credit River Watershed in Peel and Halton Regions as well as Wellington and Dufferin Counties. Credit Valley Conservation is advising that Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry's Surface Water Monitoring Centre are forecasting a weather system expected to move through the watershed starting this evening Tuesday, March 10, and lasting into Wednesday evening, March 11. This is expected to bring 20-40 mm of rain by the end of Wednesday, with higher amounts possible in areas that receive thunderstorms. Some rivers in the Credit River Watershed are already nearing or at their banks. With the potential runoff contributed by the remaining snowpack in the upper watershed and the forecasted rainfall, water levels may rise further; this means that flooding may occur throughout the watershed. The saturated ground and local streams and rivers may become hazardous, particularly near culverts, bridges, and dams. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses. CVC will continue to closely monitor weather and water levels in the watershed. The Watershed Conditions Statement for Flood Watch will be in effect through Thursday Mar-12-2026 or until further notice.
