Credit Valley Conservation has issued a Flood Outlook Statement for the areas of the Credit River Watershed in Peel and Halton Regions as well as Wellington and Dufferin Counties. Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) advises that Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued severe thunderstorm warnings (yellow level) for all communities within the Credit River watershed. Thunderstorms are expected to begin this morning and continue into the early evening. Some communities within the watershed, particularly in the south, may experience torrential downpours bringing more than 50 mm of rainfall. Although stream elevations throughout the watershed are currently below bankfull, water levels are already elevated due to this morning's precipitation. The incoming rainfall may result in further elevated water levels. Higher water levels will result in local streams and rivers becoming dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts, bridges, and dams. Furthermore, flooding may occur in low-lying areas. The public is advised to stay away from all watercourses, especially children and pets. CVC will continue to closely monitor weather and water levels in the watershed. The Watershed Conditions Statement for Flood Outlook will be in effect through Wednesday, July 22, 2026, or until further notice.
