    Yellow warning - heat - in effect Humidex values reaching 37 are expected for the next 2 days. This is a heat warning. Temperatures are high and there is a risk to public health. What: A period of elevated temperatures is expected. When: Now to Thursday. Where: Okanagan Valley, Fraser Canyon, South Thompson, North Thompson, Shuswap, Nicola, Similkameen, Boundary, West Kootenay. Additional Information: A ridge of high pressure will bring elevated temperatures to the region. Daytime highs are expected to be in the mid to high 30s with overnight lows in the mid to high teens. Over the Fraser Canyon, temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees this afternoon. A gradual cooling trend is expected later in the week. ### Heat affects everyone, but the risks are greater for: seniors, people who live alone, people with pre-existing health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or respiratory disease, people with mental illness such as schizophrenia, depression, or anxiety, people with substance use disorders, people with limited mobility. Check on family, friends and neighbours, who are at higher risk, particularly if they live alone, to make sure they have a cool space. Watch for the effects of heat illness: heavy sweating, rash, cramps, fainting, high body temperature and the worsening of some health conditions.
