    * WHAT...Hot conditions with high temperatures up to 85 to 90 degrees expected and low temperatures from 53 to 56 degrees. This will pose a moderate risk of heat-related illness. * WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Washington. * WHEN...Until 10 PM PDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses for those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Cooler low temperatures will provide some relief overnight.

    • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.     An Air Quality Alert for wildfire smoke has been issued by the following agencies: Puget Sound Clean Air Agency Olympic Region Clean Air Agency. An Air Quality Alert has been issued for King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish, Mason, Grays Harbor, and Thurston Counties through 5pm Thursday, August 6 due to wildfire smoke from regional fires. Air quality is expected to be UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS to UNHEALTHY for most of the area. When the air quality is UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS, individuals with health concerns and pre-existing conditions should reduce exposure and take precautions. At UNHEALTHY air quality, all individuals should take precautions to reduce exposure. This means limiting time outside, avoiding strenuous outdoor activity, and following tips for cleaner indoor air.
