Watershed Conditions: Water Safety Statement issued by Credit Valley Conservation

    fra: 30.03.2026, 17:33
    til: 03.04.2026, 01:59

Credit Valley Conservation has issued a Water Safety Statement for the areas of the Credit River Watershed in Peel and Halton Regions as well as Wellington and Dufferin Counties. Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is advising that the Surface Water Monitoring Centre, Ministry of Natural Resources is forecasting a low-pressure system that will bring rainfall and mild temperatures accompanied by possible thunderstorms, beginning tonight and continuing into Tuesday morning. Rainfall amounts of up to 15mm are expected with an additional 10 to 25 mm from convective rainfall forecasted for Southern Ontario, including CVC's watershed, over the next two days. Any snowpack remaining in the north of the watershed is expected to thaw by the forecasted rainfall and mild temperatures; however, the volume of remaining snowpack will not impact water levels. Flooding of the Credit River and its major tributaries is not expected. However, intense rainfall associated with thunderstorms may result in flooding of small headwater and urban areas. Some watersheds may respond with higher flows and water levels. As a result, local streams and rivers could become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts, bridges and dams. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses. CVC will continue to closely monitor weather and water levels in the watershed. The Watershed Conditions Statement for Water Safety will be in effect through Thursday April 2, 2026, or until further notice.
