...HIT OR MISS SNOW SHOWERS CONTINUE THROUGH MID WEEK.. A stationary low in the northern Gulf of Alaska will send several bands of snow showers across the northern and central panhandle through the week. These snow showers will continue to be isolated to scattered in nature, producing widely variable accumulations over short distances. A more organized band of showers is expected to push into portions of the northern and central panhandle by Monday night into Tuesday morning. The Winter Weather Advisories could be upgraded to Winter Storm Warnings if heavier snow showers continue over the same area. * WHAT...Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. * WHERE...Glacier Bay, Eastern Chichagof Island, Cape Fairweather to Lisianski Strait, City and Borough of Sitka and City and Borough of Juneau. * WHEN...Until 1 PM AKDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Travel by land and air could be impacted. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow showers will continue across the area through Monday evening with accumulations up to 3 inches possible. A more organized band of snow showers will push into the northern and central panhandle by Monday night into Tuesday morning with an additional 3 to 6 inches of snowfall. Due to the hit or miss nature of snow showers, accumulations will be highly variable across short distances.
