    The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 2 PM to 8 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. * AFFECTED AREA...In Oregon, Fire Weather zones 620 and 622, including the East Evans Creek fire, as well as Medford, Grants Pass, Ashland, Cave Junction, and Shady Cove. In California...Fire weather zones 280.     * WHAT...Hot temperatures of 100 to 110 degrees, possibly up to 115 degrees in the Klamath River Valley, are expected with low temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. * WHERE...Rogue, Illinois, Applegate and Shasta Valleys. * WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A major risk of heat related illnesses is possible for the valleys on Wednesday as hot temperatures peak. This level of heat will impact anyone without cooling methods. Periods of smoke could limit the ability to open windows for cooler air at night.

    • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
