Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an

To stay safe when heat and smoke are present, go to spaces with

An Air Quality Alert for wildfire smoke has been issued by the following agencies: Southwest Clean Air Agency An Air Quality Alert has been issued for Lewis County through 5pm Wednesday August 5 due to expected wildfire smoke from regional fires. Shifting winds may bring wildfire smoke into southwest Washington as early as Monday afternoon. Smoke is expected to become more widespread Monday night into Tuesday and may continue to affect Southwest Washington through at least Wednesday. When air quality is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, individuals with health concerns and pre-existing conditions should reduce exposure and take precautions. This means limiting time outside, avoiding strenuous outdoor activity, and following tips for cleaner indoor air.
