Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Outlook Statement for the Niagara Peninsula Watershed

    de la: 30.03.2026, 16:00
    la: 03.04.2026, 09:00

This notice is intended to advise residents and local municipalities of a potential risk of flooding across the Niagara Peninsula, including parts of southeastern Hamilton and eastern Haldimand County. Between 30 and 60 mm of rainfall is forecast from late Monday night through Wednesday afternoon. Because the ground is already saturated, this rainfall may lead to localized flooding, particularly during heavy downpours. Rapid runoff into ditches, creeks, rivers, and storm sewer systems is possible. Creeks and rivers in the area are currently running slightly higher than normal but remain well below flood levels. Additional rain may cause water levels to rise and could result in minor flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Smaller waterways-such as 12 Mile Creek in Pelham, Welland, and Thorold, and 4 Mile Creek in Niagara-on-the-Lake-can rise quickly during thunderstorms. At this time, major or widespread flooding is not expected.

    • Follow the directions of local authorities and look for any updates on the situation. Use caution and stay away from rivers, creeks and all waterbodies. If it is safe to do so, clear ditches/culverts/catch basins on your property to ensure proper drainage. Municipalities are advised to check for debris blocking storm infrastructure.
