Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and
signs.
Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip
current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If
able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to
escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... Sebastian Inlet to Jupiter Inlet 0-20 nm... At 247 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located over South Beach, or near Vero Beach South, moving west at 25 knots.

waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until this storm passes.
Frequent cloud to water lightning is occurring with this storm. If
caught on the open water stay below deck and, if possible, avoid
ungrounded metal objects. Remember, lightning can strike beyond 10
