...MARGINALLY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR THE SACRAMENTO AND CAPITAN MOUNTAINS THIS AFTERNOON... .Strong winds aloft and warm afternoon temperatures will allow gusty west and southwest winds to mix down to the surface in the Sacramento Mountain region. We will see winds of 20 to 30 mph with wind gusts to 40 mph this afternoon. These winds combined with very low min RH's near 10% will lead to marginally critical fire weather conditions. Fuels remain dry, around the 90th percentile, along with widespread tree mortality and beetle die back. Later this evening the winds will die off, but overnight RH recoveries will be poor. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 113 Capitan and Sacramento Mountains/Lincoln NF/LNZ. * TIMING...winds increasing after 10 am, and peaking in middle to late afternoon. * WINDS...West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 7 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Up to 76. * EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...3 to 4, Marginally critical. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Near critical to locally critical fire weather conditions will exist in eastern San Miguel County, the southwest portion of the zone. * AREA AND TIMING...East Central Plains (Zone 126), and Northeast and Central Highlands (Zones 123 and 125) today from 11 AM to 8 PM MDT. * 20 FOOT WINDS...West-southwest winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
