    High Wind Warning issued March 13 at 12:48PM MDT until March 14 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT

    * WHAT...Northwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. * WHERE...Southwestern Montana along and south of Interstate 90, Big Belt, Bridger and Castle Mountains, Elkhorn and Boulder Mountains, and Canyon Ferry Area. * WHEN...From noon to 9 PM MDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Blowing dust could reduce visibility at times, particularly in the Interstate 90 Corridor. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A few heavy snow showers or snow squalls will be possible as well, particularly in the afternoon.

    • People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Remember, a High Wind Warning means that there is at least an 80% chance of 40 mph sustained winds or 58 mph wind gusts occurring during the warning period.

    * WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations 6 to 12 inches, with amounts in excess of a foot over the higher peaks. Winds gusting over 50 mph at times on Saturday * WHERE...Big Belt, Bridger and Castle Mountains, Elkhorn and Boulder Mountains, Helena Valley, and Meagher County Valleys. * WHEN...Until 6 PM MDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Plan for snowpacked and slippery roads. Snow and blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility at times on Saturday. Tire chains may be required for some vehicles if traveling through mountain passes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A cold front will bring gusty west to northwesterly winds and falling temperatures by Saturday afternoon. Any wet pavement surfaces will freeze and become icy.

Winds gusting as high as 45 mph on Saturday. * WHERE...The Continental Divide along the Rocky Mountain Front, and Upper Blackfoot and MacDonald Pass. * WHEN...Until 6 PM MDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult and tire chains may be required for some vehicles. Blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility, especially on Saturday. Those in the backcountry should ensure they are prepared for dangerous conditions.

Winds gusting as high as 45 mph on Saturday. * WHERE...The foothills and plains adjacent to the Rocky Mountain Front, Eastern Pondera and Eastern Teton Counties, Cascade County below 5000ft, and Gates of the Mountains. * WHEN...Until 6 PM MDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Plan for difficult winter driving conditions. Snow and blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility at times on Saturday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A cold front will bring gusty northerly winds and falling temperatures during the late morning and early afternoon hours on Saturday. Any wet pavement surfaces will freeze and become icy.
