    Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, rain and showers and northwesterly winds are expected during Wednesday and Thursday. Areas likely to be affected include the Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts and parts of the Central West Slopes & Plains and Riverina forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

    For ALPINE AREAS above 1900 metres: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 80 to 90 km/h are occurring and are likely to continue into the afternoon. Peak gusts in excess of 125 km/h are possible this evening and may persist for several hours. Winds are expected to begin easing during Thursday morning. For the SNOWY MOUNTAINS and BRINDABELLAS above 1200 metres: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 110 km/h are likely to develop this evening and persist for several hours. From early Thursday morning winds are expected to decrease to 50 to 60 km/h with gusts around 90 km/h in the Snowy Mountains, but ease over the Brindabellas. Locations which may be affected include Mount Ginini, Thredbo, Tidbinbilla and Perisher Valley.

    MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING LIKELY IN THE FLOOD WATCH AREA FROM WEDNESDAY, WITH ISOLATED MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE Moderate to heavy rainfall recorded across the northeast of Victoria since Monday has caused river level rises and minor flooding in the Seven Creeks and Kiewa, King and Goulburn River catchments. Further widespread moderate rainfall is forecast across northeast and central Victoria from Wednesday into Friday. This rainfall may result in minor to moderate flooding across the Flood Watch area from Wednesday, with isolated major flooding possible. Further flooding is likely in the Kiewa River, Ovens and King Rivers, Goulburn River, and Seven Creeks catchments, where Flood Warnings remain current. The situation is being closely monitored, and Flood Warnings will be issued as required.
