* The warm air temperatures this weekend in the low to mid 80s may cause people to underestimate the dangers of the cold water temperatures which are currently only around 60 on the lakes and around 70 on the rivers. * The cold water temperatures can quickly cause hypothermia to anyone immersed in the water. According to the Maine Warden Service, even when the water temperature is below 70 degrees, hypothermia and loss of dexterity can occur in 45 minutes or less. Anyone on small boats, canoes or kayaks should plan accordingly if recreating this weekend and use extreme caution to avoid this threat. Paddle smart from the start and always wear your life jacket!

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of north central Maine, including the following county, Piscataquis. * WHEN...Until 615 AM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Washouts of dirt roads. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1213 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms moving through the area at 20 to 25 mph. This will cause small stream and creek flooding, potentially causing significant washouts of dirt roads. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Rainfall rates of 1 to 1.5 inch per hour falling. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This area is very soaked from previous rainfall earlier Friday. Any heavy rainfall will result in minor flooding and possible road washouts. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
