    * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents expected. * WHERE...Bay County Beaches. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

    • Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

    * WHAT...Heat index values up to 112 expected. * WHERE...Portions of the Big Bend and Panhandle of Florida. * WHEN...From 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While a heat advisory is in effect for Wednesday, there is a 30 to 50 percent chance that heat indices will exceed 113 across portions of the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend.

    • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
