A snowstorm is expected. Total snowfall: near 15 to 20 cm. Locations: Terra Nova, Clarenville and vicinity, Bonavista Peninsula, and the northern Avalon Peninsula. Maximum wind gusts: east to southeasterly 70 km/h. Time span: this evening until near noon Sunday. Remarks: Several hours of poor visibility in snow and blowing snow are expected this evening as heavy snowfall rates coincide with strengthening winds. Most areas of the Avalon Peninsula will see an improvement in visibility in the overnight hours as temperatures briefly rise to just above zero. However, snow will redevelop by early Sunday morning with blowing snow over exposed areas. Conditions should improve over most areas as the snow tapers off near noon Sunday, but strong winds will persist through the afternoon, which may cause localized areas of poor visibility due to blowing or drifting snow. ### Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather (such as snow, freezing rain, wind and rain) are expected or occurring. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or post reports on X using #NLwx.
