Most regions are expected to receive between 50 and 80 millimetres of rain by Thursday morning. However, some areas that will experience stronger thunderstorms this evening could accumulate larger amounts of rain, exceeding 100 millimetres. ### Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas.     Yellow watch - severe thunderstorm - in effect Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. What: Rainfall amounts of 50 millimetres or more locally. Gusts of up to 90 kilometres per hour. When: This evening. Additional information: A trough is currently causing showers and thunderstorms in these areas. Some of these thunderstorms could cause heavy amounts of rain locally and strong gusts. Nautical activities may be hazardous due to sudden, severe wind gusts over bodies of water. ### Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
