...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ON THURSDAY ACROSS FAR EASTERN OREGON... ...HOT, DRY, AND WINDY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY... .Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across far eastern Oregon on Thursday. Storms will be capable of frequent lightning, gusty outflow winds, and only sporadic wetting rains. While the thunderstorm threat will end by Friday and Saturday, hot, dry, and windy conditions will develop, primarily across southeast Oregon and the higher terrain of southwest Idaho. The driest and windiest day at this time is expected on Saturday. * AFFECTED AREA...In Idaho, Fire Weather Zones 401 Western Payette National Forest, 402 Eastern Payette National Forest and 423 Owyhee Mountains. * TIMING...From Friday afternoon through Saturday evening. * WINDS...Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...7 to 14 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* WHAT...Temperatures up to 107 expected, hottest on Friday. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon. * WHEN...From 2 PM MDT /1 PM PDT/ Thursday to 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/ Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses, especially for the young, elderly, and animals.
Lower Treasure Valley,CanyonDrink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an

Air Quality Index is forecast to be Unhealthy. * WHERE...Ada, Canyon, Gem, Payette, and Washington Counties. * WHEN...UNTIL 2 PM MDT FRIDAY. * IMPACTS...Everyone may begin to experience health effects; members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects.
CanyonAir pollutants can cause breathing difficulties for children, the
elderly, as well as persons with respiratory problems. Those
individuals who are sensitive to increased particulate matter or
smoke are encouraged to avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor
activity during this advisory. Open burning is prohibited by air
quality rule. It is also recommended that all other individuals
limit prolonged or strenuous activity outdoors.
