Credit Valley Conservation has issued a Water Safety Statement for the areas of the Credit River Watershed in Peel and Halton Regions as well as Wellington and Dufferin Counties. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms throughout CVC's region tapered off yesterday morning. The watershed received between 24 and 70 mm of rain. No significant rain is in the forecast. Flooding along the Credit River or its major tributaries is not expected. However, water levels in many water bodies are still close to, or slightly above, bankfull, especially Mill Creek at Townline, West Credit River at 10th Line, Black Creek at 5th Line, Silver Creek at 8th Line, and Cooksville Creek at Lakeshore Road. Also, some low-lying areas may experience higher flows and water levels. Grounds are at or near saturation throughout the watershed. Some local streams and rivers may still be dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts, bridges, and dams. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses. CVC will continue to closely monitor weather and water levels in the watershed. The Watershed Conditions Statement for Water Safety will be in effect through Friday-Jun-19-2026 or until further notice.
