On Saturday we expect considerable avalanche danger for region Ofoten. Avalanche problem is wind drifted snow (slab avalanches) and wet snow (loose snow avalanches).

Rain is expected, followed by heavy showers in some places. Heavy snowmelt is expected. Steep slopes, as well as streams and rivers with high discharge, are particularly exposed. Risk of slushflows is especially high in areas with less than 1 meter deep snow. The snow may in some places be fully water-saturated. Slushflows are triggered even in relatively gentle slopes, where water accumulates. Slushflows follow terrain depressions and may develop into debris flows. Debris flows may reach the valley bottom even if they are triggered high in the terrain.
