Significant snowfall is expected. Locations: Avalon and Burin peninsulas as well as Clarenville and vicinity. Total snowfall: near 15 cm, except potentially less in areas that mix with or change over to ice pellets. Time span: this morning until this evening. Remarks: Gusty winds accompanying the snow will cause reduced visibility at times in blowing snow. Snow may mix with or change over to ice pellets over southern portions of the Avalon and Burin peninsulas this afternoon, including parts of the Southern Shore, reducing snowfall totals in these areas. There is also a risk of freezing rain over southern portions of the Avalon Peninsula late this afternoon and early this evening. Snow or ice pellets will eventually ease to flurries or freezing drizzle this evening and end overnight. ### Travel will likely be challenging. Visibility will likely be reduced at times. Snowfall warnings are issued when significant impacts are expected due to snowfall accumulations. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
