Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated trade swell, generated by a trade- wind surge caused by the pressure gradient between the subtropical ridge to the north and the unsettled pattern over western and central Micronesia, is producing a high risk of rip currents along east facing reefs. Trade swell and east-facing surf will be slow to diminish as Hagupit moves away, and the High Rip Current Risk was extended.
