Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Outlook Statement for the Niagara Peninsula Watershed Updated

    From: 2026/04/02, 11:22
    To: 2026/04/07, 09:00

Over the past four days, the watershed has received approximately 15 to 50 mm of rainfall, with the southern Niagara Peninsula experiencing the highest amounts. This rainfall has resulted in increased water levels and flows in local creeks and rivers. Additional rainfall is forecast through the weekend, with an additional 20 to 30 mm expected. Light rain is forecast to begin this afternoon and taper off Friday afternoon, with another round of rainfall expected on Saturday. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated Saturday night. The combination of ongoing rainfall, elevated water levels, and saturated ground conditions may cause further increases in water levels and could lead to localized flooding, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall. Rapid runoff into ditches, creeks, rivers, and storm sewer systems is possible. At this time, creeks and rivers remain below critical flood levels, and major or widespread flooding is not anticipated. However, additional rainfall could result in minor flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

    • Follow the directions of local authorities and look for any updates on the situation. Use caution and stay away from rivers, creeks and all waterbodies. If it is safe to do so, clear ditches/culverts/catch basins on your property to ensure proper drainage. Municipalities are advised to check for debris blocking storm infrastructure.
