Heavy rains have caused many small streams to flood. In addition roads, low-lying and poor drainage areas were also flooded causing road closures and evacuations in the warned area. Water may be slow to recede. Additional rain over the next 12-24 hours may prolong the high water and flooding. * WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. * WHERE...A portion of central Mississippi, including the following counties, Rankin, Scott, Simpson and Smith. * WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 359 PM CDT, emergency management reported flooding in the warned area. Flooding is already occurring. Between 5 and 7 inches of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
