Where: Trans-Canada Highway - Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, West Columbia, Yoho Park - Kootenay Park, Kootenay Lake (north of Balfour), Arrow Lakes - Slocan Lake (areas north and east of Slocan and Nakusp), West Kootenay - northeastern sections including Nelson.
When: Now until this evening.
Additional information: An atmospheric river has been affecting southern B.C. this week and will deliver 40 to 70 mm of rain to the region by this evening. This is on top of what has already fallen earlier this week.
Freezing levels will range from 2000 to 2600 metres, except possibly lowering to 1600 to 1800 metres in heavy precipitation in the Yoho Park region today. Snowmelt from higher elevations may increase the impacts associated with this rainfall event.
Rain is expected to subside by this evening when the atmospheric river gives way and a cold front passes.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected.
What: Southwesterly winds gusting up to 90 km/h.
Where: South Thompson, Shuswap, Nicola, Coquihalla Highway - Merritt to Kamloops, Okanagan Connector - Merritt to Kelowna, North Okanagan - including Vernon.
When: This afternoon until early this evening.
Remarks: A strong frontal system crossing the interior today will bring strong southwesterly winds gusting to 70 to 90 km/h.
Winds will weaken below warning criteria by the evening but remain gusty.
Recreational boaters are advised to take precaution and be prepared for sudden wind gusts across area lakes.
